
2025 Professional Development Days Event Series Summary:
This past Spring, Big I NH hosted a dynamic, multi-date education series combining in-person networking, virtual training, and interactive learning experiences for insurance professionals across the state of New Hampshire.
Wednesday, May 7 – The Derryfield, Manchester, NH
The event opened with a “Meet the New Hampshire Insurance Department” session, providing attendees an inside look at regulatory updates and insights from key department leaders, including:
- Keith Nyhan, Deputy Insurance Commissioner
- James Fox, Property & Casualty Division Director
- Emily Doherty, Legal Counsel
- Joshua Hilliard, Compliance & Enforcement Counsel
- Christian Citarella, Chief Actuary
The afternoon featured a crowd-favorite original production of: “The Trampoline Tragedy” Mock Trial, an engaging and educational dramatization designed to highlight liability, legal, and coverage nuances in a hands-on format.
Wednesday, May 28 – Virtual Event
This full-day online session delivered deep dives into policy interpretation and regulatory topics such as:
- “How to Read an Insurance Policy” (Parts 1 & 2) with Chris Boggs of Boggs Risk & Insurance Consulting, LLC, breaking down complex contract language and structure.
- Review of NH Cancellation Laws, presented by Cara Scala, Big I NH’s Director of Education.
- A fun Lunch & Trivia intermission encouraging networking and knowledge testing.
- “Insuring Trusts” with a follow-up Q&A with Trust Attorney Jonathan Boutin.
- Ending the day with “A Mixed Bag of Ethics”, tackling real-world ethical dilemmas that insurance agents face today, presented by Big I NH’s Cara Scala.
Tuesday, June 17 – Fireside Inn, Lebanon, NH
The series concluded with a focused session on flood coverage:
- “Introduction to the Modern Flood Insurance Marketplace” led by Diana Duke-Cody of New England Excess Exchange, exploring both public and private market coverage considerations.
The afternoon turned competitive and collaborative with the engaging “Insurance Ethics Showdown Game Show,” encouraging ethical decision-making through interactive scenarios.
These events offered practical education, regulatory insight, and opportunities to connect with top leaders of the New Hampshire Insurance community, reinforcing Big I NH’s commitment to professional development within the independent insurance agency community.
